Elementary Families Serving Others
Church School Mission Projects
Parents can help teach values of care and compassion by involving the whole family in outreach and mission projects.
One way parents can teach stewardship is to ensure that their child brings their offering envelop to church each Sunday. The student offering is placed in a separated account from the church. The offering is used exclusively for church school mission projects. Student can earn their offering by doing chores. Families can also participate in any of the projects by creating a family service project out of any of the listed below.
The students will participate in the following mission projects:
In August, the students at First Church collect school supplies and fill backpacks for students in Hartford.
Christmas Stocking project
Offerings collected from Sept. to Nov. will be used to purchase items for children’s Christmas stockings. The stockings are assembled on Sunday after Thanksgiving by the children and donated to children through area social workers.
Toiletry Kits for South Park Inn
In Dec. and Jan., the students offering will go to purchase items for toiletry kits for South park Inn. The students will be assembling the kits in February.
Education Supply boxes
As we head into the end of the school year, many inner city school teachers run out of classroom supplies. So in April, we will assemble education supply boxes for teachers in New Britain.
VBS Mission Project:
In May and June, the student offering will go toward the Vacation Bible School Mission project.
